MJ: The Evolution of the Icon Join us for a high-energy journey through time! The Evolution of the Icon is an immersive dance incursion that tracks the incredible transformation of Michael Jackson’s career. From the groovy 1970s to the futuristic 1990s, students will experience the history of pop culture through movement. This isn't just a dance class; it's a "level-up" experience where students "unlock" the signature styles of different decades, learning how the King of Pop revolutionized the stage. The Highlight: The "Decades of Dance" Evolution Instead of a competition, the entire group works together to build a continuous "Evolution Performance." We break the workshop into three distinct eras: Era 1: The Soulful 70s (The Jackson 5): We start with the basics! Students learn the high-energy, rhythmic "Motown" grooves and the importance of a big smile and stage presence. Era 2: The Electric 80s (The Moonwalk Era): Things get sharper. We introduce the world-famous "Moonwalk," the sharp "Toe Stand," and the precision of the Thriller and Bad choreography. Era 3: The Precision 90s (The King of Pop): We reach the peak! Students learn the sleek, cinematic style of the Dangerous era, focusing on "The Lean," mechanical "robot" movements, and incredible group synchronization. The Finale: The "Rewind & Fast-Forward" Megamix To close the session, the music begins to "glitch" and jump through time. The students must react instantly, switching their dance style from 70s groove to 90s precision as the music changes. It’s a test of memory, speed, and teamwork! Goal: To teach students about the history of dance, the importance of practice and evolution, and how to adapt to different styles of music.
